In 1996 a grain ship, “Bright Field,” was heading down the Mississippi River near New Orleans, when it lost control, veered toward the shore and crashed into a riverside shopping mall. The impact demolished parts of the wharf and injured 116 people. According to the Coast Guard investigation, the ship’s owner and crew had failed to repair long-standing engine problems. This is a clear example of not doing what you should do and receiving the consequences of bad decisions.

The Devil deceived Eve into thinking that there would be no consequences for eating the forbidden fruit (Gen. 3:1-7). God said, “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, ye shall not eat of it lest ye die” (v.3) The Devil said, “Ye shall not surely die.” (v.4) Eve dilly-dallied with the temptation and contemplated the possibilities that the Devil had suggested and threw away all restrain and ate the fruit!  Why?  The Devil deceived her into thinking that there would be no consequences for sin.

The Devil continues to lie to us today and tells our society that a little sin won’t hurt, a little indulgence is not a problem, a little transgression will never hurt anybody! The Devil tells us that we are only human and go ahead and enjoy sin. The Bible says, “The way of the transgressor is hard.” ( Prov. 13:15)

Our society believes that it can live in disobedience to God’s will by practicing homosexuality and never suffer the consequences. The scriptures teach that there will be consequences for our actions. “Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth unto his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption: but he that soweth unto the spirit shall of the spirit reap eternal life.” (Gal. 6:7-8) This basic principle applies to the physical world and spiritual realm as well. The word, “mocked” is a Greek word (mukterizete:) which means to turn one’s nose up at God. The point is that if a person sows to the flesh (homosexuality and sinful living) and turns up his nose at God, he shall go the way of all flesh, -- die and face the judgment of God where there will be consequences. (reap destruction – Gal. 6:8)

The scriptures emphasize the consequences of sin in other verses. Ezekiel said, “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” (Ez. 18:4) Paul said, “The wages of sin is death.” (Rom. 6:23)  Over and over, again and again, the Bible under all circumstances, emphasizes that we reap what we sow and that sin is always followed by consequences.

There is rebellion in the hearts and in the behavior of many people in our society today. In view of the fact that sin will always have consequences, what can we predict for the future? According to the basic law of sowing and reaping, the answer can best be given in the words of the prophet Hosea, “They sow the wind and they shall reap the whirlwind.” (Hos. 8:7) There is one time of sowing (while alive), and there will be two times of reaping. We reap in this life and also reap beyond this life in the hereafter. Sin brings forth its consequences both here and hereafter.

People may do things without realizing the consequences of their actions, but one day there is going to be an accounting! (Rev. 21:8)

The proverbial Pandora’s Box has been opened by the decision of the Supreme Court to redefine marriage between same-sex couples. Justice Samuel Alito, in his dissent warned, “If a bare majority of justices (5-4) can invent a new right and impose that right on the rest of the country, there will be no limit on what future majorities will be able to dounless cultural influences will not tolerate it.”

The Supreme Court’s decision on homosexual marriage can become the bullet to destroy our religious liberty in America! This is a clear case of government telling Christians what to do regardless of their religious beliefs. The Obama Administration, for the last 7 years, has been the most hostile force to religious liberty than any other administration in the last 240 years of American history! Truly, Satan’s number one agent in the White House is succeeding in destroying Judeo-Christian values. We need to pray that this fool (Greek word Mo-res--  which means morally worthless)  who believes that he can destroy Christianity will be brought under control in accordance to God’s will. “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes” (Prov. 12:15).

Before the Supreme Court’s decision, the Obama administration made it clear that the Federal government’s definition of sexual tolerance would supplant religious views protected by the First Amendment. He ordered the Justice Department to stop enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in the Federal courts. This action caused the Supreme Court to strike down parts of DOMA in 2013. He then undermined the 30 states that had statutory bans on same-sex marriage by expanding legal protection to all same-sex couples in those states.

The way to close Pandora’s Box is that the 30 states that support traditional marriage need to vote for a new president and members of Congress who also support Judeo-Christian values.

It is high time that Christians re-engage in our civil responsibility as voters and assert our Constitutional rights. We need to be like the Apostle Paul who insisted on his rights as a Roman citizen against an anti-Christian political establishment much like the Obama administration! Paul claimed his legal rights by saying, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman?” (Acts 22:25) It was unlawful to beat a Roman citizen, especially if they had not been charged with a crime. As Christians, we need to be bold in asserting our Constitutional rights. Article IV clearly says, “U.S. shall guarantee

to every state a republican form of government,” which simply means that voters elect leaders to make public policies and laws in the legislative branch only. Then voters need to hold these legislators accountable.

In the upcoming presidential and congressional elections, voters need to ask hard questions, “Will you defend our First Amendment rights?” To those seeking office in government, we need to ask, “Will you support the First Amendment Defense Act that prohibits the Federal government from penalizing individuals for their religious beliefs?”

As Christians we need to assert our rights under our Constitution. The courts have absolutely no power to make or change law. The judiciary is clearly out-of-control and have imposed their moral views about sexual deviancy on our entire nation.

In the last presidential election, 16 million Christians didn’t vote. Now is the time to take our stand and vote for what is right and for Christian values. “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34). The righteous cannot rule unless Christians help to elect them.
